Ian Westbrook is a highly experienced freelance Art Director and Production Designer for Tv, Film and Stage. Since 1985, 3D Creations Studios have specialised in creating works of the bizarre and unusual and will gladly design almost anything your imagination can dream of. Servicing the needs of the professional entertainment industries around the world.

Ian Westbrook’s Bio

Ian has produced professional set designs since 1985 for the Theatre, Film, Television and event productions around the world. He is comfortable with designing Shakespeare and Brecht as he is with musicals and pantomime.

With a vast portfolio of productions under his belt and can give you the latest twist or look if required or a more traditional and historical feel to a production. He specialises in theatre touring shows as a working practitioner and set builder whose knowledge of set construction and engineering helps produce practical and achievable sets within the client’s budgets. His extensive theatre work, he design and build projects to help producers achieve the best results with an approach to the sets and props required. His careful attention to the details and finishes on a sets result in a well-made and practical design.

Ian trained at Nottingham Trent University. For the Lord Delfont Group Ian designed the Lenny Henry, Cannon and Ball and Dick Emery shows. After seasons at Nottingham Playhouse, Leicester and Theatre Royal Plymouth, Ian became Set Designer/ Artist with the Theatre Royal Norwich and Cromer Pavilion’s Seaside Special summer shows which he still enjoys designing for. Since 1985 his company 3D Creations in Norfolk, have created well over seven hundred and fifty operas, musicals, plays and events that include Sir Peter Hall’s ‘Blythe Spirit’ at London’s Savoy Theatre. Michael Flatley’s “Feet of Flames” world tour. “Evita” and “Chicago” in Verona’s amphitheatre. Special fire effects for Chichester Festival and Birmingham Stage Company. The Broadway musical “See Saw” by Cy Colman and Dorothy Fields. Designs for American illusionist, David Blaine. Rock and Pop music Arenas tours for Iron Maiden, (5 world tours) Robbie Williams, Pete Waterman, West Life, Blur, The Spice Girls, Peter Gabriel, and Thomas the Tank Engine. Disney (TV) Corporation. Sony Media and five Royal commissions for HM. Queen Elizabeth II at the Sandringham Museum and the Royal Millennium and Diamond Jubilee Beacons. The UK tours of “Treasure Island” and London’s West End productions of “Proof” The Arts Theatre. “The Horrible Histories” and; All the Fun of the Fair – by Jon Conway, starring David Essex at Garrick Theatre. Truth Lies Diana, Charing Cross Theatre. Dear Zoo and Tales from Acorn Woods UK tours.

Since 2004, Ian designed and created all new pantomime and cruise sets for Qdos Entertainments including six Olivier Award winning pantomimes at the London Palladium. The Victoria and Albert Museum in London exhibits Ian’s stage designs. Merlin Entertainments. Processional props for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee event at Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London.

Production designer on film locations for Pirate’s in the Caribbean and Art Director for Six tapes for the Discovery Channel.
